Folder inheritance
Starting from July 22, 2025, folders will automatically inherit the permission settings of their parent folder. This includes access privileges for teams and individual users, ensuring a streamlined approach to managing folder permissions across the system. Notably, this update will not impact any existing folder permissions, providing a seamless transition to the new feature.
This new feature significantly simplifies folder management, particularly when users need to move folders or reapply permissions for various users and groups. By merely adjusting the settings of the parent folder, all sub-folders will immediately adopt these changes, giving you more control over your folder permissions. This means that maintaining consistency in access control becomes much more efficient, reducing the risk of permission discrepancies.
However, it's important to note that any folder with the "Override workspace permissions" option enabled will remain unaffected by this inheritance feature. This safeguard ensures that folders with specialized permission settings maintain their unique configurations. To enable this option, users can navigate to the folder's settings and select the 'Override workspace permissions' checkbox. This will prevent accidental exposure or leakage of sensitive information.
As a result, users can have peace of mind knowing that their tailored permissions will remain intact, even as broader permission structures evolve.
