Get notified on file changes

Subscribe to Notifications in a Folder

Enhance your workflow by subscribing to notifications for specific actions occurring to your files within a designated folder. This feature allows you to stay informed through real-time updates via email or webhooks, depending on your preference.

Types of File Actions

There are four key types of file actions that you can receive notifications for:

1. Files Added: Get notified when new file(s) are added to the folder, ensuring you are always aware of incoming documents and updates.

2. Files Updated:
Receive alerts when existing file(s) change, so you can promptly review the latest modifications.

3. Files Moved: Stay informed whenever file(s) are transferred to another folder or workspace, helping you track document organization.

4. Files Removed: Be notified when file(s) are moved to the trash, allowing you to monitor potential deletions.

5. Files Downloaded: Be notified when file(s) are downloaded, allowing you to track them easily.

Dynamic Notification Aggregation

To optimize the notification experience and reduce clutter, we employ a dynamic aggregation system. For example, if you upload one file and then upload another within a two-minute interval, you will receive a single notification encapsulating both actions. On the other hand, if you upload 25 or more files, a notification will be sent immediately. A notification by email or to a webhook will always be patched at 25 records.

Access Limitations

Please note that team members with "view only" permissions will not have access to notification settings. However, a member who has access to modify notification settings can add any other team member to receive email notifications about relevant file changes.

How to Create a Notification

To set up a notification for a folder:

1. Navigate to the specific folder and click on the notification icon, which will display the notification settings interface.

2. Click on the "Add Notification" button to begin defining your notification preferences.

3. Choose the type of file action you wish to be notified about: whether it's files being added, updated, moved, or removed.

4. For email notifications, you have the option to add your email address or include any other team member's email to ensure they receive updates.

5. If you prefer webhook notifications, define the endpoint where the webhook should send its data. The webhook operates using the POST method and transmits an array containing detailed information about all the files involved in the action.
